Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season! It seemed to pass quickly for me with baking, family and lots of wrapping paper!
This has been an incredible year (or half a year) for MagPies and it is now time to look forward to the New Year. I hope to spend this upcoming year on a expanded business plan for MagPies. After all, it is good to strive for goals! My aim, as always, is to provide baked goods with locally sourced ingredients. I will not only be continuing my relationships with local farmers, but will also seek out new local sources. I am currently looking at local grass fed, organic meat farms and dairy farms. I will also be deciding which Farmers Markets are most advantageous for MagPies, so watch this space for more details. In addition, I will be exploring new skies where MagPies can fly.

The following are items that will be available for New Years Eve delivery or pick-up!

Spiced Carrot cake $5/piece
Sacher Torte - Whole Torte $25
Chocolate and mulled wine pear tart - $5/4" tart

Chicken and Leek Tart - $6/5" tart

Cranberry and Vanilla Coffee Cake - 10" Cake - $20

Please email or call for orders.

If I don't see you, have a great New Years and we will see you soon!

Better late than never!

OK, I am late with this posting. Sorry! I have been really busy this week purchasing and installing a oven. I am very excited about this purchase as it will allow me to be more efficient with my baking time. This was a big step for a little business! I hope it takes MagPies to the next level.

On to business.....I have decided not to bake for this Saturday in order to prepare for Thanksgiving. We will be doing deliveries on Wednesday of all our Thanksgiving orders. Please get your order to us as soon as possible.
Hope everyone is having a great week! Hope to see you Wednesday and if not have a great Thanksgivng!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Yes, this is a food blog...but many of you know that I am a military wife. My husband has served in the Navy for 18 years and has been deployed to Japan for almost a year. Today my kids and nephews attended the Veterans Day Parade in Fairfield. The picture is my son Logan (holding the flag) and my nephew Tristan. It was a great parade! We all had lots of fun.

A Busy Weekend!

Thanks to everyone who joined me at the Clay Station this weekend. The weather was cold and rainy on Saturday but we had a great day on Sunday!

I love being at the Clay Station. It is where Magpies did their first event. So many of the talented Artists and Vendors gave me lots of encouragement in the early days and even now they are such a great support system. Although, I deal with food (not a typical art form), the artist at the Clay Station community have allowed me into their very talented group, for which I am very honored. Please remember the Clay Station for some great Christmas present ideas which are unique items but made by local artists!

So next weekend we are back delivering at the office. We will do deliveries from 8am-11pm. Please get your orders to me by Thursday if possible. You can place orders in the comments section of the blog or by email: magpies.jen@gmail.com or by calling (707)439-5960.

This week selection includes:

Stilton and Twice Bake Potato Picnic Pies $4
Ham Pie $5
Apple and Organic Sausage Pie $5

Poached Pear and Pumpkin Pie $4
Cranberry/Cinnamon Tart $5
Roasted Sweet-Potato Cheesecake with Maple Cream $5

Fruit Cake Cookie $5 for 4 cookies

Don't forget to add yourself to our blog as a follower if you want an automatic email everytime we do a new post on the blog.

Ok, that is it for now! See you all on Saturday.

Thanks for a Great Season!

For my first posting on this blog, I would like to thank the great customers we have had at all the Markets this season. You have all been my inspiration each week. I am going to miss seeing you, hence the reason for starting this blog. I would love to still see all of you and offer you the opportunity to come and see Magpies at the different events we attend. The idea is that this blog will be a forum to post the items we will be baking each week (3 sweet 3 savory) and to let you know where you can find us.
As blogging is new to me, I ask that you bear with me as I update and change the blog. This is a start that I hope will keep you updated as to where the Magpies fly.

I will post the baked items we will be selling each week on the site and you can order them through email or by calling me. Pick-up will be Saturday from 8-11am. If you need a different pick-up time please let us know.
If Magpies is attending another local event we ask that you pick-up any orders at the event. If you are unable to attend the event and need another pick-up time/date let us know.
We will be at the Clay Station in Mankas Corners, 2529 Mankas Corner Road, this Saturday and Sunday. Some of the treats we will be selling are as follows:
Sweets
Deep Chocolate Sour Cream Pound Cake $4
Yogurt Pomegranate Tart $5
Layered Pumpkin Pie $5
Savory
Onion Apple Tart with Manchego Cheese $5
Sweet Potato, Blue Cheese and Walnut Quiche $5
Parma Ham and Pear Tart $5
We will also have samples of our Thanksgiving Pies (which can be ordered). In additon, I will be making some edible holiday items that will be pre-packaged for sale. Look for our hand rolled truffles, peppermint bark, gourmet marshmallows, specialized cookies and caramels.
If you have any other questions let me know. Otherwise, come and see us on Saturday and Sunday.
You can pre-order anything via email (magpies.jen@gmail.com) or by calling (707)439-5960.

I look forward seeing you all soon!
